A Farewell To Ugly But Amazing Shoes As We Return To The Office

I have mixed emotions about returning to my office in a few weeks. First and foremost on my mind is adjusting back to “professional attire.” I will no longer be able to wear my reliably comfortable work-from-home outfit: a dressy top (suitable for Zoom meetings) paired with stretchy, elastic waist pants (or shorts) and the ugly but most comfortable slides ever (as shown in the photo above).

In my late 30s, early 40s, I started to have feet issues, including arch pain and plantar fasciitis. I needed quality shoes and invested in several “good brands.” Nonetheless, I have never had such comfortable and cushy shoes as these Oofos. I have worn them nearly every day during the pandemic and regretted resisting them for so long out of vanity.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I didn’t completely abandon my vanity for comfort. After my teen daughters were fully vaccinated a few months ago, we finally returned to eating at restaurants (but only outdoors). On those occasions, I made more of an effort to dress up and leave the Oofos at home.
