I've also noticed that when I wait to speak, it gives me the chance to acknowledge specific people and their smart ideas (e.g., "This is a complicated issue with so many potential consequences, so I especially like Malky's approach to solicit feedback from all the stakeholders before we start discussing specific solutions."
