Hi Fraser, Yes, the e-tron has less range than the Model X but we have a Honda Pilot we use for our 4-5 hour drives to the mountains or lakes. When you're towing a boat, you won't get very far with a car running solely on an electric battery so we never expected to drive it on road trips.

Instead, the e-tron is my husband's daily commuter and our weekend car. He drives about 15 miles a day on his commute and our weekend jaunts to the city are maybe 80 miles round-trip. Charging it every night means we have plenty of capacity for our trips.

If we decided to drive more than 150 miles somewhere, then yes, I would be more anxious and want to make sure I knew where charging stations are so I could stop somewhere and recharge rather than try to drive 150+ miles on one battery charge.

To be perfectly honest, I hadn't realized VW had a model as I only researched the Tesla X and then found a few reviews stating the Audi e-tron was better than the X.
