I grew up in the suburbs, with relatively easy access to the city, and I agree with your many points. I far prefer the suburbs over the city.

Yet now as I've gotten even older (and more anti-social), I'm REALLY happy to be living in the rural countryside where the neighbors are few and far between. I don't have to deal with neighbors who blast their music at 11 pm at night while I'm trying to sleep, door-to-door solicitors who ignore the No Soliciting sign, dogs who bark for hours non-stop while their owners are away, or any other irritation that comes with living near people. Not the most convenient location when you DO want to access culture, but I'm willing to make a long drive a few times a year.

Thanks for the great essay!
