I think it's related to being a Top Writer. I see you are one in Health, so any essay you write that is tagged with Health is curated.

I only realized this recently. I'm a "Top Writer" in 6 categories and any essays tagged with one of those 6 is immediately curated (even one that was about. Medium!). I think they eliminated the step of having a real person review it once you get that TW label.
