I wouldn't categorize it as anxiety. I think it's more like uneasiness about rocking the boat by suddenly revealing the extent of our buying power.

We hope to live here until we die, so we went with some of the highest quality (and most expensive) finishes, unusual luxuries like the automated lighting system, and top-of-the-line appliances (Wolf and SubZero). That's the stuff you see on TV, not in the typical middle class home.

So yes, I am a little uncomfortable having folks over who will be astonished at how extravagant the house is. Of course, now that there's the Delta surge, we're not hosting parties anytime soon.
