Thanks, Tom. The stereotype about Tesla owners was not a deciding factor when it came to buying a Tesla, but it certainly didn't help matters when I was already wavering.
Perhaps there are stereotypes of Audi drivers that I haven't heard of yet. Audi doesn't seem as popular in the U.S. as BMW/Mercedes/Honda/Toyota/Tesla.
And yes, I agree--the more we move away from gas-powered cars (public transit where possible, electric cars in rural areas like where I live), the better it is for our air quality and natural resources.
