There's always someone who has a problem with any advice, so are you saying that people should not offer advice at all?

I am confident my mom thought she was being helpful, as she assumed I'd scare off too many men who might be "good husbands" (by a bare minimum definition of not physically or emotionally abusing me and willing to earn an income so I wouldn't have to single-handedly pay the bills). I wanted something more for myself, though, which is why I ignored her advice.
