This essay really resonated with me given my own experiences as the daughter of immigrants. My mom only cooked amazing Chinese food, which I didn't appreciate enough until years after I moved out. I'm so glad that these days, my kids get to explore a wide array of ethnic cuisines without the kind of shame/awkwardness that was more common when I was a child.
