This is a wonderful story—Italy’s tourism bureau should be giving you a kickback! We went to Bologna, Modena, and Firenze 5 years ago and ate like kings. I did some research ahead of time but we also stumbled into tiny restaurants that had incredibly delicious food and charming, relaxed service. I hope to return to Italy one day!
