This is great advice, Toffy. I definitely try to repeat the new person's name when I first hear it and use it 1-2 more times during the conversation, especially when it's a unique name that's less common in America. I often even write down phonetic notes afterward so I can remember how to pronounce their names the next time I see them. People seem to genuinely appreciate it when I remember their name and confirm I'm pronouncing it correctly!
