This made me smile, but I think I'm still clinging to the places that are a little too dark, a little too "hipster" but tempt me because they offer a fantastic menu. I see you're in Portland, which has an incredible "food scene." Ox and Pigeon are always on the list when we visit, but we also enjoy trying the food carts and more casual places like Nong's and Kinboshi.

I think it helps that there are four of us so we average out the risk of getting a dud when you order a lot of food. Once we have an empty nest, it may just be easier to stick to the tried-and-true favorites.
