This was a great story. It reminded me of my childhood, as I grew up here and had many hapa childhood friends. Most had white-Asian parents. Some had Chinese moms, others Japanese dads, or Filipina moms, but we all felt like “normal” American teens at our school. I’m sure they got annoying questions like “What are you?” from strangers, though.
Many of my friends are in interracial marriages so there are even more biracial and multiracial kids in California.
Growing up in such a bubble certainly meant we were all in for a shock when we left for other parts of the country. I hope your kids are growing up like “regular” American teens and not getting treated differently in CT.
