Yes, when I played volleyball and basketball as a teen/young woman, I was considered "short" as other girls were 5'11 and 6' (or taller). They were also mostly long-limbed girls (whereas I have a long torso but relatively short arms and legs). I was often out-maneuvered by those players as their wingspan was gigantic!

But in the rest of the normal world, all of my relatives (all Asian) and many friends of all racial backgrounds are shorter than me. There's a reason why the average height of American women is 5'4" (as some are much shorter than that even though some are much taller than that!).

As I mentioned in the story, I'm 8-9" taller than nearly every woman on my husband's side. The first time I went to his family's Christmas party, his aunt (4'11") looked up at me and said, "Wow, you'll bring some height to the family!"
