You paint such a peaceful and satisfying portrait of life on your farm, John. I can't help but wonder what some of the challenges have been!
We moved to a 6 acre parcel in the country 4 years ago and our stories always make my urban and suburban friends gasp in shock.
We have many animal stories. There's the friendly cow that wandered in when our front gate was broken and started eating our grapevines. Then there was a bat that flew into our bedroom when we were in the midst of a major renovation (we had no ceiling and no walls in 3/4 of the house so when we opened the bedroom door, it flew right in).
Of course, I can't forget the birds that built a nest in the corner of our new ceiling in the family room (which was just a set of wood beams at the time with no roof and no walls). We waited until the baby birds flew out before removing the nest.
We have also had roof rats, rattlesnakes, lizards, skunks, wild turkeys, coyotes, and even a bobcat cross our property. It's always an adventure!
